headspace centres are located across metropolitan, regional and rural areas of Australia. Our 100+ centres across Australia are designed with and for young people, so they don’t have the same look or feel as other clinical services. As a result, no two headspace centres are the same, each offering unique services that reflect the needs of its local community. Visit www.headspace.org.au/headspace-centres/ to find your nearest headspace centre.
The centres are there to help people access health workers : whether it’s a GP, psychologist, social worker, alcohol and drug worker, counsellor, vocational worker or youth worker. Services at a headspace centre are either free, or have a low cost. You can ask if there is a cost when you make your appointment.
Some services require you to have a referral from a doctor but don’t worry headspace can help you with this as well. Subscribe to the headspace YouTube Channel for more youth-focussed mental health videos: https://bit.ly/2DfCwR4

What’s a headspace centre like? | headspace

When I first came to headspace, I walked in and was greeted with a smile at reception. They gave me an iPad to fill out some more information, and then I waited in reception until someone came to find out how I could get help.

The first appointment that we booked in was sort of an hour for you to get to know headspace and for us to get to know you. We discussed the things that were going on in your life.

What it’s like at headspace is that it is quite different from going to a GP, medical center, or hospital to talk to the mental health team there. Being at a headspace center is warm, inclusive, welcoming, and full of positive energy. They treat you like an individual; they don’t treat you like a number.
