Hi, I’m Razani from Headspace Bondi Junction, and today I’m here to talk to one of our on-site sexual health nurses, Nurse Jane.

What do you do?

We provide a free, open space for young people to come in and talk about any sexual issues they may have.

What is the benefit of a young person coming to Headspace?

It’s confidential, it’s free, you do not need a Medicare card, but most of all, it’s friendly.

What are some of the common misconceptions about seeking help?

The most common misconception about seeking help is fear. A lot of people think the tests are going to be painful, but they’re not. Most of the time, it’s a pee in the jar. We actually aren’t here to discuss things with parents; it’s a confidential service. We’re here just to listen to you, and it’s free. It doesn’t cost anything.

What’s your take-home message for young people?

Testing is easy, treatment is easy, and there’s really nothing to be scared of. We are here to help you.
