Navigating Bisexuality
My name is Danny, and I am from Melbourne. I guess for me, the way that everyone kind of thinks about their sexuality when they’re starting to get to the age where they’re noticing people of whatever gender they’re into—it wasn’t until people kind of started having conversations about who they had crushes on that I realized that, for me, having a crush on a boy in my year and a girl actually made me different. So, I just was so confused. I didn’t really have any words to describe what was going on in my life or anything. All I could articulate was that I was different.
For me, sometimes navigating bisexuality can be tricky when I feel like I’m stuck in the middle. Like, I’m too gay for the straight community and too straight for the gay community. So, my biggest advice for people who, you know, are friends with people who are bisexual is just make sure that they know that their sexuality is valid. They’re not being greedy or indecisive. Who they are is actually really valid. Just making sure that you remind them of that and not question them about it.
