WEBSITEI think it’s a really big issue amongst teenagers because we spend a lot of our lives on the internet, and so it’s kind of where we talk to a lot of our friends. I think it can be really dangerous.
I just had two of my closest friends basically just went into my Facebook account, and they just read all my emails and everything, and without my knowledge or anything. You keep all those secrets to yourself, and you deal with them inside your head, and for someone else to be able to know what’s going on inside your head, like, you’ve become really vulnerable.
It began like, um, really small sorts of swearing, language, just things like that. It eventually evolved into much larger things like death threats and things like that. Eventually, the situation did sort of carry on until the point where it had to go to the police.
I just noticed him at school. He seemed to be more down than usual, and we were talking about how the person was, like, annoying him and threatening him and talking to him and just bullying him in general.
I was trying to help him out where I could, give him a bit of support.
Everyone sort of needs someone as sort of a backbone because you can’t face things on your own, I guess.
I could talk to her, and because I was still kind of close with the other girls, I was able to kind of get an insight on them as well, so I could assure Sophie that nothing bad was happening. I kind of had the inside look on both sides.
What I’ve learned from my experience is just tell them that you’ll be there for them no matter what. Be there, like, if they need someone to talk to in the night or in the day, if you just want someone to talk to about it and let a bit of anger out if you need to.
How Troy actually helped me through this, it completely changed what I thought the ending would have been.
I think it’s important for kids who are getting bullied to know that there’s an option to get out of it and to keep strong and stuff.
I don’t know, it just feels good to have someone to back you up.
