How can mob stay strong?

Well, Mika, my name is Uncle M. I’m a Tong rang filmmaker and content creator. Hi, everyone. My name is Royon Null. Yo, are you mob? My name’s Jarvis. I’m a young Indigenous po living up in Bungang country, which is the northern rivers of New South Wales. Hey, it’s Finess Man, Y Man. I’m here to tell you a little bit about staying strong. What does it mean to stay strong? I think staying strong is prioritizing yourself and your community health. Staying strong is about taking care of yourself and not wearing yourself down because when you’re strong, that’s when you can better provide for everyone else. I think to stay strong is being able to reach out to your loved ones, people you trust. You know, navigating this world is so crazy, and we can’t do it alone. So for me, to stay strong in one word means celebration. As long as I can celebrate who I am, where I come from, and what I have to offer in my culture and my community, that’s all that matters to me.

So how do I stay strong? There’s a lot of things that I like to do to stay strong. Number one, being setting those boundaries so you don’t get past that limit in the first place. And then, you know, hobbies—things that you enjoy doing. Speaking, spending time with loved ones, family, friends, and getting outside, exercising, enjoying the sun. I try and mainly stay strong by making sure that I’m useful to my community and the people around me. So for me, the group’s wellbeing is my wellbeing, so I’m always sitting down with CZY boy or Auntie or Sister Girl, just making sure that we’re all okay. And as long as I know that, I know that I’m okay.

Where’s that? I stay strong by doing daily affirmations, you know, looking in the mirror and telling yourself, “You’re beautiful. You’re worthy. You’re smart. You’re kind.” You know, affirmations are so powerful, so please give it a go. Really doubling down on self-care, whether that be stepping away from all social media, taking a walk, getting some fresh air, or just doing something that I love. I love cooking and I love playing video games, so I’ll do both of those things when things get too overwhelming, and I have to stop.

How can other mobs stay strong? Well, no one knows you like you, so you know the things that make you happy. You know the things that you enjoy doing. Where other mobs can stay strong is by making sure they’re surrounding themselves with beautiful people that are going to help uplift them, inspire them, and encourage them. It’s most important to be around people who love and support you. You need to log off where it’s needed and remember that it’s not your responsibility to represent all mobs all of the time.

One, be with your elders, feel their strength and their power because it’s all going to flow through us one day. And two, make sure you’re taking the time personally to practice your culture because you don’t need cameras, you don’t need eyes on you, you don’t need nothing. All you need is you, yourself, and your connection to your place.
