Reach out before you check out – the future
When you panic about the future, you stop living in the present. What makes the future scary is that anything can happen, and you don’t have any control over it.
To figure out how to get somewhere and continuously failing can be quite mentally challenging. I’d put all of this effort into this degree—a degree that I suddenly realised I wasn’t passionate about. But I’d made a decision in high school, and I thought I had to stick by that.
Then I realised, it doesn’t really matter. You’re not limited to what you’ve studied, and you shouldn’t think that you are restricted. You don’t have to pick your forever job. You might change careers three, four, five, six times.
And that’s okay as well. I applied online to study construction project management. Wow! I’m a Muslim hijabi woman on a construction site. It’s scary but amazing.
No matter what’s gone on in the past and how you feel right now, you can’t actually predict how it’s going to be in the future. Every time you fall into a ditch, you need to find any way possible to get out of it so you can still continue on the path.
